About

Hi, I’m Andrew. For nearly two decades I worked with my hands in construction — but the thing I most wanted to build turned out to be a story.
Now I write rhyming picture books that get kids looking closely at the natural world: the pond out back, the bugs on the porch, the wild beyond the fence, the small dramas unfolding in every backyard and neighborhood. My stories don’t dress nature up or smooth it over. Sometimes the frog gets the fly. That’s not a sad ending — it’s just how the world works, and kids can handle it (they usually find it pretty funny).
I write in rhyme because rhyme is built to be read aloud — the bouncy, out-loud kind of reading that turns a bedtime book into one kids ask for again and again. And I write about nature because it’s the best storyteller there is: every pond and meadow and treetop is already full of characters, if you slow down and look.
Frog and Fly is the first book in my Natural Order series — stories about the wild, funny, sometimes-toothy ways nature fits together. Available here.
Thanks for hopping by. Pull up a lily pad and stay a while.
